New Pattern: Liam's Booties!

These booties were designed out of necessity. I had only US 8 dpns and worsted weight yarn. You would think there would be plenty of baby bootie patterns made with these specifications. You would be wrong.

So here are Liam's booties. Worsted yarn, US 8 dpns, and only limited by your imagination.....

Sweater progress

I am currently knitting my very first sweater, and I thought I would share my progress!

Every non-knitter I tell about my love affair with knitting says "Do you knit sweaters?" or "Knit me a sweater!" or "Doesn't it take forever to knit a sweater?"  As frustrated as I am with stereotypes, I figured it was about time I gave it a go.

So here she is... a peek of my Paulie, so far....

I know, an adventurous first sweater since its in fingering weight yarn, but I love working with smaller yarns, so I didn't think it would be too oppressive. This is Malabrigo "Arbol" and Ella Rae Merino Lace.

Have you ever knitted a sweater? :)

Introducing Debra!

Debra is knit flat and seamed as you go. Unique construction, excuse to use a flashy button, perfect use for handspun... what's not to love?

Debra can be your wallet, your trinket carrier, your cosmetic bag... who couldn't use another bag?

from Ravelry! You do not have to be a Ravelry user, but if you are not, I definitely recommend signing up. :)

Variations on the Classic Dishcloth

Sorry all, I've been very absent lately. Very busy, between new job and moving to a new apartment. Life is good!

I bring you my very first (self published) pattern! It's nothing special, and just about every knitter on the planet has already used it, but I've added a few twists, and I hope it gives you some good ideas. :)

Gratuitious New Year post....

Happy New Year!

I know, I know, it's been 10 days already. I've been busy!

Things I have accomplished in the 10 days so far of 2012:

1. Planned out/began spinning yarn for Boyfriend's birthday socks.
2. Watched Season 1 of The Walking Dead.
3. Designed and begun knitting a Legend of Zelda Triforce washcloth.
4. Began preliminary sketching for a resizeable baby hat.
5. Returned a Boye yarn ball winder (NOT recommended) that Boyfriend got me for Christmas. It was a great idea, but it winds the balls much too "softly." The angle of the wind is too shallow.
6. Bought a tried and true hand cranked winder :)
7. Put in my 2 weeks notice. I'm starting a new job!

List #2... My Knitting New Years Resolutions!

1. Design and publish at least 3 original patterns.
2. Knit my fist sweater!
3. Design and knit a resizeable baby hat for a high school friend's new baby.
4. Knit a set of washcloths for another high school friend's wedding gift.
6. Whip my Ravelry queue into shape.
7. Be smarter about the yarn I buy. Do I have a project in mind? Will I REALLY use it?

My next few blog entries will be relating to these list. Pictures next time, I promise!
